BUYER BEWARE: -
Recently large volumes of hacked flash memory has
flooded the market, often being traded in high volume on
the auction sites. The hacked memory fools windows into
listing it as a much larger memory storage capacity than
it really is. Most buyers are unaware until much further
down the track when it becomes obvious the flash memory
is not running to its capacity. Usually the seller is
nowhere to be found by then.
Another problem in
the flash drive trade is the selling of rejected
production line runs as normal product. Most factories
quality test a percentage of their flash memory
production runs for speed and component reliability. If
they fail the whole run is rejected and sold off cheap.
This is because most of these drives will fail much
earlier than a similar drive with A1 quality components.
So the drive still looks the same but in a few weeks you
will know why they where so cheap.
